Representing the users with a pin-per-user is okay when there aren't many users, but with a large number, you quickly get many overlapping pins. A heatmap would be more useful for a large number of densely-packed users.

We are now showing the location of edits on a world map. We plan to overlay tweet locations on top of that. Thoughts? (http://beta.whatthetrend.com)

from where in the world the tweets come... not from where in the world they are beeing edited ;)

What you mean with location? From people who edit the description, from whose tweets are being displayed related to the trending topic or something else?
